ADAM: "The Giant of Light," as Professor Fiyutski puts it, "this giant of light is just one of many mysteries," and little is really known about this angel. This is the Angel that exploded at the South Pole, melting the polar ice cap, flooding much of the world, and killing a great deal of the human population. What is also known about this angel is that the Evas were copies of it, or "born from Adam," as Kaworu puts it. Also, from episode eight of the TV series, we see Kaji and Gendo talking about the specimen called Adam and Kaji said "It's for the Human Complement Program isn't it? " and Gendo replied, "Yes it is, it's the first human, Adam". Based on the Old Testament of the Christian Bible, Adam was the first man to have been created by God in his own image.
