Shamshel: This Angel attacks a few weeks after Sachiel and by this time, Shinji has had some time to train in fighting them. A nervous Shinji faces this Angel and accidentally hides the enemy in smoke from his rifle. The angel takes advantage of this and retaliates, managing to slice of the end of the Eva’s rifle as well as separating the umbilical cable from the Eva, forcing it to switch to reserve power. The Eva is then tossed onto a nearby mountain, almost crushing Kensuke and Touji. Shinji is forced to take his classmates into the Eva's entry plug is ordered to retreat but instead attacks again in a berserk rage. Using the Progressive Knife Shinji stabs the angel in its core just as he stabbed by the Angel’s energy tendrils. Fortunately for Shinji, the Angel dies just before he runs out of reserve power. Instead of exploding like Sachiel upon destruction, the angel's body remained intact, allowing Nerv to study it.
