Gaghiel: Gaghiel attacks while the UN's combined fleet is transporting Eva Unit 02 from Germany to Japan. Unfortunately for Asuka and Shinji the only Eva they have to fight the angel with is not equipped to fight in the water, where the angel happens to be. They also only have one weapon with which to fight the angel, that being the progressive knife. The Eva accidentally falls into the water and the angel attempts to eat the Eva. Misato uses this to her advantage and sinks two battleships in line with Eva’s umbilical cable and reels the cable back in. The combined efforts of Shinji and Asuka get the angel’s mouth open, the battleships rush into the opening, fire all of their cannons, and destroy the Angel.
