An inescapable vision

The dream was always the same. A woman, dressed all in while with a sash of gold, followed a man in Aquilan armor. She had her head bowed; only her eyes were visible above a gold veil. The man spoke to her, but she could not hear what they said. Lightning flashed bright around them, but there was no sound of thunder. They walked through a barren wasteland, she didn't know how long--

Until they found something half-buried in the mud. The man screamed, but she could only see the agony on his face, as she could hear no sound. Another man appeared in front of them. The Aquilan shouted at him, pulling a staff from midair. The newcomer smiled and drew a sword, and the woman watched, too frightened to move. The Aquilan fell, and the other man looked to the woman. He spoke shortly to her, and she fell to her knees, her hands over her head in a hopeless attempt to protect herself.

The man laughed and brought down his sword to kill her-but it stopped, mere inches away from the woman. She had somehow enclosed herself in a glowing, pearlescent sphere-and it began to glow brighter and brighter, to the man's horror. For a moment nothing could be seen-and then, one walked out from the brightness. The woman dressed in while and gold, her eyes weary and serious. She reached up to remove the veil that hid her face--

And Eagle awoke.

"Heather, get up! What, do you want to make us both late for school?"

Heather?

Yes...that is what I am called...here...

"I'm awake," she said softly.
