Name: Guensuna (GWEN-suu-nah) Hsariansalah

Meaning: Guensuna is a combination of "Guenevire", white lady, and "Sunao", innocent. Her last name is a combination of her father's name and her clan name.

Age: 21

Birthdate: September 29

Zodiac Sign: Libra. Guensuna hates all sorts of superstition, so I think it's appropriate that she doesn't match her sign at all.

Gemstone: Chalcendony, translucent white or pale blue-gray quartz.

Bloodtype: Once again, Guensuna doesn't believe in this stuff. She doesn't even know what hers is, but she happens to be an O.

Birthplace: Glacies, as a member of the Salahtornai clan.

Height: 5'1''/152 cm. She is a short little dragon-girl.

Species: Basilisk

Clan: Clan? We don't need no stinkin' clan!!

Voice: Soft and on the alto side, I think. She doesn't speak loudly, but her voice is clear and carries pretty well.

Likes: Being respected (and feared), cats, music, snow, wine (in moderation), knowledge, magic, intelligent conversation, looking good (or evil), Zanre, being detached from the situation around her

Dislikes: not being taken seriously, hot weather, humiliation, dogs, superstition, rain, being touched, being dirty, stupidity, talking much, outwardly emotional people, insects

Hobbies: Uh...freaking people out? Well, actually, she'll curse people in creative ways to make them learn a lesson. And she listens to music whenever she gets a chance.

Strengths:
Guensuna won't let her emotions get in the way of a duty she's set on, and she's a darned good mage. She's intelligent and a diligent worker, patient when it comes to complicated work and magic, has a very long temper (or the opposite of a short temper, anyway; she's slow to anger), and she's logical and cynical. (Is cynicism a strength? Well, they say stick to what you're good at...)

Weaknesses:
Well...she's blind, for one thing. She's cold, doesn't get along well with people, and she has a tendency to look down at people who aren't as good at magic as she is. She can be impatient, especially with "idiots." She's pessimistic, stingy with money and praise, and is downright unpleasant...

Fears: Being forgotten, lost, or killed; falling in love (you can bet she keeps that one to herself. She'd rather people believed that she isn't afraid of anything).

Colors: Gray, blue, white.

Aspirations: To be known and revered throughout Serpens as a great mage.

Most wanted: This would probably be a cool, impressive looking robe. She doesn't lack for much materially, and a really great outfit would make her look more powerful and imposing.

Human Appearance
Guen's hair is so pale a blue that it looks white, with a silvery sheen to it. Her skin tone is rather pale and colorless, though not so gray as it seems in dragon-warrior form. She burns easily, so she tries to stay out of the sun. Her hair is parted on the side, with thick bangs falling over her forehead and curling around in front of her ears. The left side of her hair is several inches longer than the right (left falls to the middle of her chest, right to her shoulder) and is cut at an angle between the extremes. Guen's eyes are almost always closed, giving her a rather mysterious (er, creepy) look to strangers. If she did open her eyes, one would see that they are an icy blue, much like her hair, so light that the irises seem to blend in with the whites of her eyes. She rarely shows emotion, preferring a facade of eerie (once again, read "creepy") calm. She's slender but not emaciated, with a mature body that shows her age, despite her height and facial features. Despite her lack of stature, her stark appearance makes her stand out in a crowd.

Attire
Most of the time, she wears a kimono, usually in black or white, with designs in the opposite color. If she needs more freedom of movement, she'll wear a tunic and loose pants. She almost never wears anything other than black and white, with the occasional gray thrown in for good measure.

Personality
Guensuna is the strong, silent type, in that she is magically very strong, and she doesn't talk much. She wants more than anything to be one of the greatest mages on Serpens and rather likes being mysterious and imposing (CREEPY! (Rei: Stop that!)). She gets pleasure out of learning new spells, impressing people with her magic, and simply being cool and aloof. She likes to be left alone, but will occasionally sit and watch others for the amusement of human activity... especially when they think she can't see them. (Her eyes are closed, right?)

She's been accused of having no sense of humor, but this is not the case. She thinks it's rather amusing when people are afraid of her, and likes to watch them jump when they see how a woman with her eyes closed still knows exactly what they're doing. Just because she doesn't show her amusement by laughing out loud doesn't mean she doesn't think something is funny...but emotions just don't show up on her face. Anger, sadness, joy...the many expressions of Guen Hsariansalah all look a lot alike. She might show a bit of disappointment or pleasure, but she does her best to be unreadable, and manages to maintain her calm facade rather well.

Although she doesn't like people coming close to her or touching her, she's not obsessive about it; she'd just prefer that they didn't. The same goes for being dirty; she'd rather be clean, but she's not obsessive about cleanliness. It's hard to look impressive if you're accessable and stinky...

Guen's not the sort of person that invites people to become close to her. "Live and let live" fits her lifestyle; she won't bother someone unless they bother her. Oh, she might disdain and pity you, but she won't bother you. She does have a low tolerance for idiots, though...she finds it hard to stand by and watch someone be stupid. Sometimes she'll cast a spell in order to teach someone a lesson, but she won't let them know who cast it.

She won't beat around the bush when asked a question; she doesn't like to speak much, and the unadorned truth--or her opinion--is usually the shortest thing to say. Guen is very cynical and has little faith in humankind. She does her best to be detached, practical, and logical in any given situation. About the only passionate thing about her is her desire to become a great mage, and even in this she doesn't show her passion outwardly. She can be something of a show- off, but only around someone she's trying to impress, and she doesn't consider most people worthy of impressing...

History
Guensuna was born as part of the nomad Salahtornai clan, second daughter of Iene and Hsarian. Her elder sister by six years is named Nahaia. Guensuna was born with very poor eyesight. In today's world, she would be considered legally blind. She can see light and dark and dimly-colored blurs when her eyes are open, but not very darn much. She has learned to use magic to distinguish what she cannot see with her own eyes, and does well enough at it to map out a pretty detailed three-dimensional image of the space around her. In fact, she can determine the locations of things with her mind better than most people do with sight, though she would only "see" a less detailed, colorless image. To compensate for her blindness, her parents started her on magic training with the shaman at an early age.

When Guensuna was four years old, her parents took in an orphaned baby of uncertain origin. He came with the name Zanre, but not much else is known about the situation of his birth. Zanre managed to fit in with the Salahtornai a lot better than his foster sister Guen, who spent most of her early years isolated due to her lack of sight. Her parents and older sister took care of her as best they could, but the arrival of a rather sickly baby cut down on the time for a blind but healthy young girl.

Guen didn't really mind...from early on, she was a child who preferred her own company to that of others, especially children. She didn't envy her older sister her friends and sight, nor the attention given to her foster brother. She immersed herself in study, learning all she could from the clan's shaman, first a spell to give her a semblance of sight at the age of six, and moving on until she knew everything her teacher did by the time she was twelve. She didn't feel like she needed anything but knowledge. Learning a spell that would allow her to read books was extremely difficult, and it's still a very tedious effort for her, but she struggled through it in order to learn more magic. She would struggle to read until she got the mental equivilent of eye strain, giving her horrible headaches that brought her to tears.

Books aren't very common in a nomadic clan, and although Salahtornai children were educated in reading and writing it was a skill they used only rarely, in trading with the city- dwelling northerners. While Zanre, an orphan from who-knows-where, became the clan's darling, Guensuna, a true daughter of the tribe, was something of an outcast. No one hated her, and she didn't really hate them; there was just a mutual lack of understanding, and Guen really didn't care for the lifestyle. The people annoyed her for the most part, though she has a bit of fondness for her family and loves Zanre dearly.

From the moment her parents brought him into their home, Guen felt a sort of kinship with Zanre. She couldn't explain it, but she felt that they were related somehow. They looked and acted total opposites, but Guen looked out for him none the less. Not that she needed to; everyone loved Zanre. Guensuna, on the other hand, had a reputation for being cold and stuck-up. Of course, this was in comparison to the close-knit nature of the clan, and in a city setting, she would more likely be considered...cold and stuck-up. Zanre was the only person who shared her interest in learning, and he was incredibly talented with music, an art form that Guensuna could appreciate despite her lack of sight.

Guen didn't even discover her dragonhood by accident; she was studying dragons and heard rumors of humans who could take on dragon form. Then Zanre rushed to her with the news of what had happened to him, that he was one of the dragons, that he had somehow transformed...and Guensuna took it all in stride. She supposed she had always knew that this was the kinship between herself and Zanre, and took on dragon form herself. It was kind of cool, but it wasn't going to change her life. She had been planning to leave Glacies for some time to pursue her magic.

Everything went according to plan until Zanre got wind of it, and he wanted to tag along. She tried to discourage him only halfheartedly; she is rather fond of the guy, and she always enjoyed his music. So they set off together two years ago, traveling from town to town, Zanre playing music to earn their keep while Guen picks fights (er, mage duels) with powerful sorcerors, learning new techniques and making a name for herself.

Warrior Appearance
She's got some big ol' wings, and strange pointed ears, but no tail and only very small fangs. Her power is mostly in her eyes, which she opens in dragon form. Over her right eye is a dark, kinda squiggly line, and another curves up onto her left cheek. Her skin is paler and takes on a grayer tone, and is as cold and hards as stone. With skin like that, she doesn't need much armor, so her clothes are kinda skimpy; a corsety-looking thing and short, tight shorts with a translucent floaty-skirt thing over them, and boots and arm braces that lace up like the front of her shirt. And there's a stone on her forehead, often covered by her bangs.

Dragon Appearance
Hm...where to begin? In her dragon form, Guensuna is about seven feet tall; not big as dragons go, really, but still big enough to be threatening. Her smaller size allows her more agility, though she might not be able to keep up with one of the huge dragons. Of course, she's not a mini-dragon like Zanre, either... She can manage walking both on her hind legs or on all four.

Her tiny, pebbly scales are gray; a lighter gray on her back, and a darker, almost-black color on her stomach. Her skin feels as cold and hard as stone; if you hit her, you'd hurt yourself more than you'd hurt Guen. Despite her stonelike attributes, she's still rather flexible and quick. The undersides of her wings match her stomach in color, the tops the rest of her skin, but they are more fragile than the rest of her body. You could probably cut her wings with a sword, but if you were hitting any other part of her body, the most you'd do is maybe chip her...

Her face is long, with a pointed snout and a nice chalcendony oval sticking up between her eyes. She has horns that seem to be made out of the same material as her gemstone, and her eyes in dragon form are white irises on a dark "white" of the eye. She has a long tail which is pebbly like her body, frilly-things on the sides of her face, long fingers and claws...and...well...this is what the sketches are for....

Special Skills/Powers
As a dragon, Guensuna flies and breathes cold air rather than fire--her breath could freeze a person who stood in her way. Also, if she feels like it, she can kill someone just by looking at them. She doesn't like to do this...she'd rather turn a person to stone or ice, which she is also capable of doing with a glance or breath. Water doesn't hurt her, but she can't swim...

In dragon-warrior form, she doesn't breathe cold air, but she can still freeze or kill someone just by looking at them. Normally she can keep this power under control, but you'll start to feel cold if she looks at you, and if she gets mad, she might have more trouble controlling her power...

Species/Clan Info
Basilisks aren't exactly the most friendly, social creatures in the world. Actually, they're rather solitary and somewhat unpleasant. Guen has the solitary trait down, and she's not pleasant, either...

Basilisks usually freeze their prey before eating, and it's a nice way to keep things refrigerated until you need them; she's not big enough to take down a large animal in one meal.
