ROSE ELITE SOLDIER Randall Latimer

Uniform He's got a yellow cape made out of shiny fabric that goes over his right shoulder, and is fastened by a blue brooch with the crossy-like-design that appears elsewhere on his armor. Around his head there's a thin gold band, and underneath his armor he wears a tight, low-cut shirt and pants made of velvety brown fabric. His armor is all silver, and consists of two armguards, a chest plate, two leg-thingies and a codpiece. (I think that's what you call it. My skills of description are lacking today.) There's also more armor that straps over his boots, which are the same copper-color as his belt, which wraps many times around his waist. He has a blue sheath for his sword on his belt. His boots are fastened by a series of buckles on the back. Argh.

Powers

Back in the day, Rand was a magician, but the knowledge he had in his past life is all gone. He knows that back then, he worked with incredibly delicate, complicated spells, some of which he designed himself, but the theory behind it hasn’t come back to him and probably never will. Instead, his skill has transferred over to computers and electronics, and that suits him quite well.

He carries with him at all times a Palm mini-computer, which does a lot more than it’s supposed to be able to do. He’s written a dream-deciphering program for it that can download a dream and translate it into code. He needs to be very close to the person to download their dream, within about two meters, so his machine can register brain wave patterns. Then he can go through the code manually to search for a papillon, or load it on his home machine to run it through a dream emulator.

Once he has recorded a brain wave pattern, he can use his handheld computer as a locating device, but it will only pick up a signal within a few miles, and the dense buildings of New York dampen a lot of the signals so his effective range is usually less than a square kilometer.

And besides this more special stuff, he’s just really good with electronics...he’d probably make a good hacker if needed for the cause, and he can probably coax some other improbable operations out of a computer if given enough time to write the program and get it debugged.

He’s at work on some sort of special electronic weapon for the Rose Elite, but hasn’t been making much progress—-the day-to-day dream searching takes priority. I’m sure it’ll be really cool...if he ever finishes it.

Weapon

He has a sword, but he’s only actually good with a longbow. There's nothing really special about his sword (except that it was a family heirloom in his old life), but he's rather fond of it. It's just cool to have it, even if he doesn’t know how to use it besides random whacking.
