Special Skills: In addition to her Atlantean magic, Lamatsu can teleport, levitate, and create youma based on people's worst fears. This has both terrifying and humorous possibilities; for instance, if someone was struggling with their fear of eating vegetables, he or she could easily find his- or herself battling a giant radish. She summons her youma from the light on her staff, and they take on varying degrees of power, depending on how much energy can afford to put into them. Her lantern absorbs the energy given off by the fear of the people around her—this also serves to give them a feeling of safety in her presence, as their fear is being lifted away from them. She stores this energy of fear until she wants to use it—either for creating a youma or for one of her attacks. Levitation and teleportation are pretty much just for getting out of tricky situations and looking good ^_^;
Transformation: She changes from her white robes to her red Lamatsu outfit only when she absolutely must, and can do magic to do so if necessary. However, she doesn't like to be witnessed when "transforming"...wouldn't be good if word got around that Tsuraine was really Lamatsu.
Colors: Primary red, secondary black. Simple and predictable, ne? ^_^;
Symbol: The four ovals are printed in black on red on her back when she is in Lamatsu garb.
Fuku/Costume: Okay, lessee here, where do I begin…her hair is always left down, and she has three thin black bands around her neck. Her top is red with dark gray lines across it, and a black opal over her heart. It ends in a short skirt, under which she wears black leggings. She wears black sleeves that are not connected to her top. Also part of her costume is a long red skirt, which is actually two pieces that overlap in the back and front. Finally, she wears tight, knee-high black boots with a silver border where they go over her leggings. Here's a picture.
Powers/Attacks:
Terror Blast: Lamatsu aims her staff at the target and…nothing seems to happen. No bolt of light, no crackling sound—she doesn't even shout an attack phrase—but the target is struck by extreme terror. It can be a moment of terror or an extended period, depending on how much power she has available, how much she is willing to use, and the desired effect. The amount of fear that is inflicted may also vary. It can be dodged (the staff has to be pointed at you for you to feel it), but can only be blocked by another living thing capable of feeling fear (it gets the brunt of the terror, not you). Its power also diminishes with distance—at about fifty feet, you wouldn't even notice its effects. She can also only use it on one person at a time, but if it's got enough power behind it, the target could be left shaky and afraid for some time before he or she regains bearings. Lamatsu can use this attack as long as she's got the energy for it.
Caustic Burn: A spray of red, corrosive liquid. She can summon it from her hands or from the point of her staff. It can be concentrated in a stream or blasted out in a wide spray as she sees fit. As with her first attack, she can use it as long as she's got the power to do so, and doesn't even shout out an attack phrase. However, she uses this attack much more rarely than the other, usually when she is on the defensive rather than the offensive. It's something of a last resort; she'd much rather stick to fear or hide behind her youma. The attack can be blocked with something that would keep the corrosive stuff away from your body, and if you knocked into her while she was attacking she could miss her target. Basically, if you're in a situation where it will hurt to have extremely corrosive acid thrown on you, this attack will hurt.
Weapons: Normally Lamatsu sticks with her staff (which she could hit someone with if she really wanted to, but it wouldn't really be worth it), but if she needs to engage in physical battle she'll use a zanbatou--a big, flat sword with a long, thin handle. It's extremely heavy, and she probably wouldn't be able to swing it around if Marduk hadn't enchanted it to be really light in her hands. She's proficient with it, but she'd still prefer to let her minions do the dirty work.
