NPCs:
Katasu Aterix: Tsuraine's mother. She was born with the power to see the future, but even for an Atlantean she was always weak and sickly. Her family was wealthy and gave her the best in medical care, but she was rarely well. She married, but her husband left her after she had three miscarriages. Her life was devoted to her prophetic dreams and her academic study, for which she decided to go down to the surface and study the lives of the Earthbound Ones. When she returned, she was pregnant, but she refuses to go into the details of the conception. Her pregnancy and Tsuraine's eventual birth ruined what little health she had, forcing her to spend almost all of her time in an enchanted sleep just to stay alive. However, she is known throughout Atlantis as the Aterix Oracle and people come from far and wide to hear the prophecies she speaks in her sleep. Although she rarely has a chance to show it, she does love her daughter and watches over her with magic. Tsuraine is intensely devoted and protective of her mother, and visits her often.
Thasen Aterix: Tsuraine's adopted son. His mother was an Atlantean who had lots of compassion but wasn't terribly bright. She took it into her head that the Earthbound Ones were in desperate need of her assistance, and dropped everything else to go and be a missionary to a rather self-reliant, if isolated, tribe. Her husband went with her at first, but finally gave up on trying to convince her to come back to Atlantis. Thasen is a full-blooded Atlantean, but Tsuraine hasn't taught him more than basic magic. He is not aware that Tsuraine isn't his birth mother, and traveling the world(s) with her is the only life he's ever known. He's cute, good-tempered, and polite, and has a sort of awe for Marduk and the other Acolytes. Marduk realizes just what a powerful servant he could be when he grows up, so he takes some interest in Thasen's health and education.
