-Pronunciation: I didn't create this name, but I say it pretty much how it looks, "A-dell-aide Law-son."
-Meaning: I made up the meaning, Adelaide means "white wave" and Lawson most nearly means "Calm", therefore she roughly translates to "The gentle wave."
-Age: 17
-Birth-date: 17 Mej
-Place of Birth: A coastal village in Casson.
-Likes: Sunshine, the ocean, sweets, sleep, sailing, dancing (though not as much as sailing) jokes, and nails. She takes a spare or knocked loose nail from every ship she sets foot on and totes them around in a small jar. She has painted the head of each one a different color so that she doesn't forget where they came from.
-Dislikes: Showoffs (she likes to be the only show off), condescending people, sharks, not enough sleep, and extremely (to the point of snow or ice) cold weather.
-Hobbies: Singing (though she isn't very good at it), collecting nails, sailing, dancing (due to her Gift) and trying to prove she's better at everything than everyone, meaning if she were to meet an award winning archer, she would claim she were a better archer and try to prove it and fail miserably. She would then probably claim it was simply an off day and that particular try proves nothing.
-Occupation: Sailor.
-Appearance:
-Clothing: Adelaide typically wears tan or grey breeches with a red, violet, blue, or green shirt. She generally does not like to wear white because she is afraid she'll stain it. When she is required to wear a dress, she wears one in a simple and plain fashion, in light violet or light red.
-Voice: She has a medium pitched and level voice, a little rough and not really very melodic. She speaks well and clear.
-Adelaide's looks are not her main concern. She thinks she is pretty but she'd rather prepare a boat to set sail than fuss over brushes and cosmetics. She knows she isn't the prettiest and is noticeably less confident when first meeting someone she thinks its more attractive than she. It does not take her long to get over this thought and she gets back to what she thinks is more important, anything else.
-Personality: Adelaide is friendly and strong willed. She is always determined and thinks she can do everything better than anyone, even if she can't. She's also very independent, usually not willing to ask for help even if she needs it. She always thinks she is right. The latter causes her to be bossy. She tends to believe that she always knows the best way to do things, and will let people on that way whether they want to know or not.
She is fairly educated, in that she can read and write without much difficulty, though she doesn't care for reading much. She'd rather be active, doing something. She is a loud person, always voicing her opinion and it seems she doesn't know how to be quiet. Also, Adelaide knows immediately whether or not she likes a person. She also hold grudges. Once she has a reason to dislike someone, she never forgets it. She usually tries to help a friend in anyway she can, and always tries to cheer up someone that is upset. She isn't very tempermental except when someone tells her she's wrong, then she will argue as though her life depended on it.
Adelaide is usually cheerful. Except very early. Adelaide is grumpy until she's been up for about 30 minutes. Otherwise she can be compared to a bear. With an itchy rash. She is always up for an adventure, but usually trys to avoid things that would get her into serious trouble or could be harmful to someone.
-Strengths: Adelaide is a hard worker, fairly smart, determined, and usually follows directions from superiors well (if a friend or peer trys to show her a better way to do something, her stubbornness kicks in and she try harder to do it her own way.) She is a loyal friend and friendly in general.
-Weaknesses: She is bossy, quick to judge someone new, and holds grudges. She also never admits to being wrong, even when she is. She will not admit it but she is a terrified of sharks. She does not let this impede her work unless faced with swimming in water she fears may contain sharks, in such a case she will come up with any excuse to avoid the swim. Adelaide is obviously nervous when a shark is in view, causing her to seem distracted and sometimes drop things.
-Quirks: Her nail collecting, perhaps? If not, I don't think she has any quirks.
-History: Adelaide was born an raised in a coastal village in Casson. She has been wandering down to the docks since she was old enough to walk. Since her father is a sea merchant and a bust one at that, he never minded an extra pair of helping hands, especially ones that could control the wind, thus another boat lover was born. Her father was disappointed that she didn't seem to be interested in his merchant business but encouraged her boating interests. They let her work on the boat of a family friend or on her father's boat whenever she wanted to, which was any free time she had after her household chores.
-Family/NPCs:
^ Father: Ayden Lawson. Ayden is a pretty successful merchant. He is friendly and charasmatic, and loves all his children dearly.
^ Mother: Odessa Lawson. Odessa rules her household while her husband works. She is loud and outspoken and determined.
^ Brothers: Theodorus (20), a fisherman with his father. Ethan(14), quiet and very interested in numbers. Rion (4), constantly attached to his mother's skirts.
^ Sisters: Fiona (12), quiet girl that likes to embroider. Islainn (2), friendly baby of the family.
She loves her whole family and will miss them, but is excited for a new adventure. She is a bit glad to be escaping her occasionally annoying younger siblings.
^ Best friend: Vidomina (Mina to her family, Vid to Adelaide); very much like Adelaide but with a blazing temper. They fought nearly everyday, Vidomina calling Adelaide every unfriendly name under the sun while Adelaide glared in a very calm manner (which as it turns out is just as maddening as name calling.)
-Gift: Medium strength Meteorology.
-Special Skills: Adelaide is particularly strong in controlling wind, which she uses when she sails. She can control winds about 25-30 mph for about 30 minutes before she becomes very drained and can do almost nothing with her Gift for about 3 days. She uses smaller winds to move smaller objections such as paper or clothes. She can sometimes prevent a rainstorm for about 15 minutes, but then the rain falls just as though it nothing happened. Adelaide finds it more effective to blow a storm away with the wind.
-Weapon: She can use her Gift as a weapon by knocking her opponent down or disarming them with the wind. She is not skilled in any other types of weapons nor trained to attack with her Gift.
