Starset: RULES
First of all, matters of "rating" and "censorship"; swearing is all
right, just not too excessive. Sex should be kept off-screen; you can imply just about
anything, just don't be explicit about it. There's probably going to be some degree of
violence, but don't go beyond what makes sense for this world and the story, and don't be
too graphic. I don't expect to have many problems in these areas, and if there is a
conflict, stories will be edited before posting.
Starset is a message board based, story-threaded RPG. It's something of a hybrid between the Play-by-email and message board RPG traditions, to allow for the flexibility to write back-and-forth dialogue or longer, solitary scenes.
You're on Mirei, not Earth; keep the society in mind. Think along medieval-fantasy
lines, and you should be all right, most of the time. However, most people on Mirei know
more about cleanliness and are more intelligent than the average medieval European.
No character is all-powerful. All people have their strengths and weaknesses, in magic
and in personality, and perfect people are boring. On the other hand, people with nothing
but problems have the added problems of being pathetic and annoying.
Don't control other people's characters. Planning stories out in advance should help
with this problem, but every action a character takes should be approved by his/her creator.
Also, any action that has a medium-to-large effect on a character must be approved by the
player of that character, meaning you can't kill someone off without their permission.
Stay informed on what's going on in the story. This doesn't mean you have to keep a tab
on the actions of every other character in the RPG, but you should have some idea what's
going on in the other stories. So, if everyone's storming the palace, you can't say you
didn't know.
If you're going to be away for a while, let us know. There's a message board
where you can post a note of your absense, or you can send an e-mail--just let us know
what's going on. It's the same if you're going to be extremely busy, or have some other
reason that you can't participate for a while. If you're gone (without given reason) for
more than two weeks, you'll receive a warning; excessive unexcused absences will result in
expulsion from the RPG. If you are participating in a story, you should continue within a
week, or at least send a reason why you can't. Even if it's just writer's block, let us know.
Members are allowed three characters, but are limited to only one character in each faction (Zodiac Chosen or Gifted). More than one mage is all right, though.
The world and concept of this RPG are the property of
Reihelen, all characters belong to their respective creators.
